The Whisper Boat Building Academy (WBBA) is a Public Benefit Organization based in Cape Town. The organization is aimed at uplifting and inspiring, deaf students, by providing them with skills in the Boat Building Industry. These students are drawn from the Noluthando School for Deaf in Khayelitsha. Whisper Boats provide “on the job” training and the first Whisper 580 has been built and sold. Consequently, this initial success has caught the attention of the Ministry of Social Affairs of the Western Cape and we now enjoy the Ministry’s full support and endorsement.
To date, the WBBA has been financed by gifts from Dutch, Belgian and South African organizations and of course by the sale of our “Boats”.
This project is unique in the way that it is the only BEE project in the boat building sector. Obviously this fits well in the goals of sustainable growth and welfare of your company.
It is now time to expand this social upliftment project and we invite you to participate by giving your financial- and logistical support.
In doing so, you will enhance the lives of many young South Africans and at the same time, be contributing to the sustainability of the Boat Building Industry, who are crying out for skilled labour.
A certificate will be issued, entitling the Donor a full tax deduction, in terms of section 18a of the income tax act.
Alternatively if you have time available please feel free to join our operation. For more information, please contact us pr@wbba.co.za |
